Questions about God

Everyone in life asks the big questions at some point: Why are we here? Is there a God and, if so, what is he like?  Why is there so much suffering in the world? Can we trust the Bible?  Why are there so many different religions? Is there any such thing as ‘right’ and ‘wrong’? How can we ever know?

We believe that there are answers to these questions, and God has not left us to guess them! At St Philemon’s we love to help people ask their questions, understand what the Bible says, and think it through for themselves.

There are lots of ways to do that.

  • You might like just to come on Sunday, week by week, and soak it all up. We aim to make our services helpful for everyone, whatever they currently believe.
  • You might like to talk with a Christians and pitch your questions to them. If so, we are always available to meet with you – there is nothing we’d rather do. No question is too simple, too hostile or too doubting.
  • Or you might like to join others in a similar situation, in a group at Central particularly aimed at those asking questions. It's a great chance to hear some teaching from the Bible and then chew through big questions among people who won't get embarrassed by anything you say, and who'll help you think things through. If you're interested in a group like that but Thursday evenings aren't best for you, let us know.
